Tommy Dugan (3) and Kim Highfill (5) vs. Chad Hedrick (1) and Wes Crump (8)
The first match-up on Day 1 of the 2009 King Invitational features the last two TGA Players of the Year. Reigning champion Tommy Dugan will team up with Myrtle Beach's Kim Highfill to take on the 2007 POY Chad Hedrick and K.I. rookie Wes Crump.
Dugan and Highfill, representing The King's Court, were chosen with back-to-back picks in this year's draft. Dugan is the #3 seed for The King's Court while Highfill is seeded #5.
Their opponents feature Hedrick, the first player taken in the draft and who is seeded #1 for The Hunt Club. His playing partner for the day will be Crump, the #8 seed for THC.
Captain's take on pick:
Jackie King: I like their length off the tee. It should keep them out of trouble. Even if they are sporadic, they hit the ball far enough that their mistakes won't hurt them like some of the shorter hitters.
Wayne Hunt: Chad is solid all-around. But, it's no secret that the one place he can struggle is off the tee. With Wes playing from the Seniors, that extra yardage should help Chad focus on hitting it straight. This team will score for the simple fact that Chad is playing. But I expect Wes to make major contributions on short par 4's and the par 3's

Insider information is being spread like wild fire that Chad does not want any of TARZAN. Is that true Wayne? Did he get down on his hands and knees and beg you not to pair him against me. I THINK SO! Did he promise some questionable things just not to play against Tarzan. I would have to say YES.
ReplyDeleteI can promise you one thing, Tarzan. With your partner, you wouldn't want any part of Chad.
