Dugan-Griffin duo spark The Hunt Club to King Invitational lead

After a scintillating first day of King Invitational action, The Hunt Club has taken a one-point lead over The King's Court as the teams head into second round action.

The day started with Tommy Dugan and Kim Highfill staking The King's Court to a one-point lead with a resounding victory over Chad Hedrick and Wes Crump. The Dugan-Highfill team's 78 outdistanced Hedrick and Crump's 8-over par 72.

In the second match of the day, Chris Morris and Phillip Brookshire evened the overall count at one-point apiece by blasting The King's Court duo of Ted Prestwood and Ryan Mayo by eight strokes.

With the match tied 1-1, The Hunt Club's Wayne Hunt and Lane Moore used a par on the 199-yard par-3 18th to eke out and 83 and a tie with The King's Court's Jackie King and Dru Broadway.

In the last match of the day, Randy Griffin and Tom Dugan used a 5-over par 77 to beat Dwight Clark and Jay Whitt who came in with a 11-over par 83.
