Jackie King (4) and Dru Broadway (7) vs. Wayne Hunt (4) and Lane Moore (6)
The final Day 1 match-up at the 2009 King Invitational features this year's two team captains along with the two official team spokesmen in what is sure to be a no-holds-barred grudge match. The Lexington duo of Jackie King and Dru Broadway will take on two of the TGA Tour's most prolific winners, Wayne Hunt and Lane Moore.
King and Broadway each enter the King Invitational with their highest seeds ever as The King's Court's #4 and #7 seeds. King who is notorious for struggling with his tee shots will look to the long-hitting Broadway to position their team within short-iron range in this Two-Man Best Ball, Superball event.
Meanwhile, they will face The Hunt Club's 4th and 6th seeded players in Hunt and Moore. Hunt ranks as one of the longest hitters to ever play on the TGA Tour and will count on his partner, Moore to find enough of the fairway to allow him to open up his full throttle swing. A good day off the tee for this team could spell trouble for their opponents.
Co-Captain's take on pick:
Dwight Clark: I believe that Dru "The Hammer" Broadway can match Wayne for his length even though he's not quite as consistent. If finds his runge, they can be very tough on their opponents. Jackie has a sold short game and is a good puter and will benefit from Dru tees shots. Plus, you never know when he may pull ott a hole-in-one. That is his ace-in-the-hole, his trump card. I think this is a mismatch. Tarzan says, ""oooaoaaoooaoooaooaoooao"
Randy Griffin: This team has a proven track record for stepping up in prime-time events. Wayne has never lost to Jackie in a match at the King Invitational and that's a huge edge mentally. Between them they have seven TGA Tour victories including four majors. That tells me this team won't be rattled under the pressures of this event. Jackie's lone accomplishment in two years was a alleged wind-aided hole-in-one. I contacted the club pro at Winding Creek to verify the validity of his hole-in-one and was told they have no record of this ever occurring.

Seems to be a one sided artical to me. Makes the Hunt Club look better than they really are. A-kuta-matata.
ReplyDeleteHey Buttermilk Biscuit, Winding Creek might not have any records of it, but it was done in the face of 2 of your teammates!!! And trust me, they wasn't the same players afterwards!!
ReplyDeleteI swear Dwight, I'm going to have to contact the state and see where South Stokes stands on graduation statistics on where their average spelling scores would be, you may be good in math, but you can't spell for s**t!!
ReplyDeletemuther fucker wayne did that shit on purpose and was laughing when he did it to me on the phone. i also told him to put that dru was longer off the tee than wayne, but do you think he was going to write that shit. HELL NO. i got 5.00 on all comers with the kings court on my side! i did tell him to put the ooaoaoaoaoaoaaaoooooooooaaoooaoooooo, tho.
ReplyDeleteI recommend, that any match ending in a tie, rather than a 1/2 point each, let's do a spelling bee, that will assure the Hunt Club victory.
ReplyDeleteThats the only way "yaw" would win!
ReplyDeleteIts time to put up or shut up I think there needs to be a side wager on this special match that is being considered "The Match of The Century". If you want it come get it.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing "ya'll" will win is an asswhoopin.
Prediction ..... Hunt club 4 Kings court 0
All this trash talking about the first day of pairings. If you win the first day all you get is bragging rights for that day. Last year proved it is not over till the last match is over.Even though we had an almost insurmountable lead. Then when we win on the last day we get our money and head home.We dont even get a champayne party.
ReplyDeletehey puppy dog you better get randy right if you think you got a shot at beating TARZAN! oooooaoaoaoaoooaooooooo
ReplyDeleteTarzan is a good name for you because you will be spending so much time in the trees (looking for your ball).
ReplyDeletelisten here boy you will have a name change after next weekend to "little change biscuit" esp. since i will have that 100 spot in my wallet.
ReplyDeleteImportant Message from Mike Daniel!! When everyone is at the beach together, please have Captain Wayne show you his new dance moves that he perfected at work yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWas it a war dance or a rain dance?
ReplyDeleteIt was an ice dance.
ReplyDeleteHammer told me about your "ass" skating.
ReplyDeleteaccording to the advance weather report we are suppose to have a 67 degree day and all sunny on thursday. who all is interested in playing golf that day so we can get a count. i perfer to ride even if we play a par 3 course (if any). wayne put up a pole so all the players check there names or something.
ReplyDeleteNEED DEFINITION FOR PLAYING FROM SENIOR TEE'S. It seems like the seniors are helping to equalize the teams but when it comes to par 3's, they are to move back to white tees. These are the quotes that were written in the blogs about how the seniors help everybody: 1/19/09 "that extra yardage should help Chad" 1/20/09 "Hitting from the senior tees should provide Mayo a great opportunity to just bomb away" 1/21/09 "Tom's extra help from playing the senior tees to be a huge asset for their team". I think this should be re-evaluated and changed so seniors can play senior tees all the way through. PS: THIS IS NOT FROM A SENIOR
ReplyDeleteIt is my understanding it is senior tees all the thru. I think it was last year. Not really sure though.
ReplyDeleteTo PS: THIS IS NOT FROM A SENIOR. That is horse shit that you decided to be anonymous for that comment. If you are voting to keep seniors from hitting from the senior tees all the way through, you need to let us know who you are. At the very least speak directly to your team captain. That's the only way you're argument/take on that matter will be considered.

If people are wondering what my take on it is:
*
As a captain, it benefits me more to have the Seniors hitting from the forward tees all the time b/c that's 8 par 3s a day where I've got a guy hitting from the sr's compared to 4/day for TKC.
*
As a fellow competitor I, like several other players, understand that by that same token on each par 3 a greenie is available & the seniors hitting from the senior tees merely increase the odds that one of those guys are going to be closest to the pin. Even someone as crappy as me from the par 3s stands a better chance to be tight from 130 yards than from 175.
*
So primarily I guess we should know who wants to see the seniors play from the seniors all the way through. That way, when Ted/Tom/Wes win a greenie, you won't have the nerve to bitch that they were getting an unfair advantage for hitting from the senior tees.
Whenever the teams get together for their first meeting, have everyone vote on this. Then the two captains can get together and give the results before the first tee shot is ever hit or topped if its Jackie. This way no one can BITCH about this. Oh by the way this is the guy who is getting ready to put a whipping on Ted just like his daddy did a very very very long time.
ReplyDeleteDear Kaye,
I know that you are tried of hearing about this trip, believe me he will not talk about this golf trip anymore.
YOU WANT ME TO PLAY FROM SENIORS THATS OK YOU WANT ME TO PLAY FROM WHITES THATS OK. JUST PICK ONE
ReplyDeleteI think everyone playing from the same tees on par 3's is the way to go. Not only are the seniors closer but some may give a better angle to the hole. I know I'm not a big greenie winner but it makes more equal playing field. I even know I may have misspelled a word or two Wayne but I can't be perfect, but pretty dang close!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that everyone should hit from the seniors on the par 3s.....
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem either way or maybe the seniors have their own greenies
What ever the Team Captins decide I am good with
I am sure the captains know what they want and have already dicussed this. It is their teams.Again I dont remember what was done last year but no one seemed to have a problem with whatever it was. I will of course do what the captains want or vote if that is what the right thing to do is. You have to remember one thing ; even on par 3's we don't hit the same clubs as the younger ones do. Such as a 150 yard hole. I need a 5 wood to try to reach it. The younger group probably hit 8 iron. It is harder for anyone to hit long irons which is what we have to do.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is for sure. It will be nice to get to the beach and forget all these blogs and get ready for..." The TGA " events.
Again I think the captains already have their game plan going in and I am sure this was discussed. If they have not come to a agreement then maybe we should vote
If Ted wants to cheat and hit from the senior tees on par 3's, let him. I am just joking. I think it should be senior tees on every hole.
ReplyDeletebiscuit you address my teammate as sir when talking to him. also, after the stomping this weekend you will no longer be called big money. instead a more fitting name is pocket change biscuit. now, put that in your pipe and smoke it!!
ReplyDeleteI got a pipe you can smoke tarzan
ReplyDeleteDon't try to intimidate my team mate
We will address ya'll however we want cause we own ya'll or we will own ya'll this weekend.
pocket change is already scared. afterall, he has to face the pro TARZAN. furthermore, turtle boy if i want you to talk i will pull your string, so pipe down. oaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaooooaooooooooo. the last victory yell before heading out. turtle get use to it because ever time i hit a birdie you will hear it echo through the golf course. i have a feeling you will hear it in your sleep.
