King's Court rallies to tie King Invitational heading into final round

Buoyed by five outright wins during the match play portion of the 2009 King Invitational, The King's Court has battled back to even the overall points total heading into Sunday's final round. The Hunt Club entered the day with a 1 point lead and maintained that lead after the first pairing entered the clubhouse.

Chad Hedrick defeated Kim Highfill giving The Hunt Club a victory in the opening match but that point was negated when Ted Prestwood staved off a furious rally by Randy Griffin to win their match on the last hole.

The day's second pairing pitted TKC captain Jackie King and Tom Dugan. Dugan's win on the 18th hole, allowed him to halve the match and THC to hold onto their one-point cushion. But, TKC tied the overall score when King's playing partner, Ryan Mayo routed Phillip Brookshire 3-and-2, giving The King's Court the point they needed to give them a 4-4 tie.

Each of the next two foursomes split points between the two teams with Tommy Dugan (The King's Court) and Lane Moore (The Hunt Club) rallying from four holes down to win their matches.

With the two teams tied 5-5, the day's event came down to the final pairing, where Wes Crump secured a point for The Hunt Club by beating Jay Whitt 6-and-5 and Dwight Clark bested Chris Morris 2-and-1.
